Gregory McKelvey, Glenn Thompson, Richard Weiner <br /> <br />Attendees: Karen Faulkner, Chair, Planning Board <br /> Evan Lehrer, Town Planner <br /> Drew McManus, Tree Warden <br /> Arden Russell, Sturgis Lane <br /> Wayne Taylor, Assistant Town Manager <br /> Michaela Wyman-Columbo, Select Board <br /> <br />Absent: Jamie Schuh <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Meeting called to order in open session by Chair, Pettengill in the Waquoit Meeting Room at the Mashpee Town <br />Hall, 16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, MA at 6:30pm. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />MOMENT OF SILENCE <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Arden Russell made a Public Service Announcement on behalf of the Mashpee Environmental Coalition along <br />with the Mashpee DPW. Arden announced that there will be a clothing and textile event at the Mashpee Middle <br />th <br />High School August 19from 9:00 to 1:00 . Textiles are no longer allowed in landfills in Massachusetts. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />A motion was made by Mrs. Furbush to approve the Finance Committee meeting minutes of Thursday, July <br />27, 2023. <br />Motion seconded by Lee Smith. <br />Motion passed by unanimous consent. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br />N/A <br />COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE <br />N/A <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />1. Gather additional information on Warrant Articles #’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 9 in DRAFT #1 of which the <br />Committee currently has on hold. <br />Evan Lehrer and Karen Faulkner together presented an explanation of Article #1 regarding Floodplain Zone <br />Overlays. <br />Mr. Lehrer explained that this Article will require property owners to seek environmentally sensitive <br />construction methods to develop their home or commercial property. This Article will prohibit property owners <br />from utilizing fill to raise the first floor elevation of their home. <br />It was reported that if this Article were to pass, flood insurance rates for homeowners would decrease. <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
