Becky Granger, an intern at Mashpee TV, contacted Ms. Mahoney prior to Town Meeting
wanting the Library Director to do a video on the importance of the library. Ms. Mahoney didn't
think it was the right time, but mentioned the Trustees were working on something. It was
suggested after Town Meeting they could create some fun videos about the kid's summer
programs and the exciting happenings.
Until some of this stuff is straightened out, Ms. Mahoney doesn't want to do videos promoting
meeting rooms, we already have plenty of takers. Also, with issues arising we want to ensure
we revise policies first.
POLICY UPDATES: PUBLIC COMMENT POLICY, PROGRAM POLICY
Ms. Macdonald would like to move this item to next month's agenda. This was taken up in
March of 2020, our last meeting before COVID. There were things established at that point, but
she would like to gather the information first and report back.
FRIENDS OF LIBRARY LIAISON REPORT
The Treasury report shows they are in good shape with cash on hand. Their donations are
down 11% since last year at this time. They don't seem terribly concerned. One generous
person can take care of that, about $2,000. The DPW is waiting for an invoice and they won't
install the pergola until they have the instruction sheet, but they have all the pieces. The
fundraiser will be a Books in Bloom. These are very artistic floral arrangements used to
describe a book. They also want to host an author event at the library free of charge.
Sally Gunning was suggested. She is big in Brewster but she doesn't like to talk too much in
public. Peter Abrahams was also mentioned, as he is admired by many..
TRUSTEE ADVOCACY
Ms. Lyons would like to talk more about the video.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOTION:
Ms. Nickerson made a motion to add approval of the minutes for April 11, 2023 as an
agenda item to the meeting. Seconded by Ms. Lyons. All in favor. Ms. Milde abstains.
Ms. Mahoney commented to omit the last sentence under Program Policy about the
assignments and privacy, delete the part about state law. Correction made.
MOTION:
Ms. Nickerson made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from April 11, 2023 as
amended. Seconded by Ms. Lyons. All in favor.
4
