SHELLFISH COMMISSION <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> AUGUST 8, 2023 —6:OOPM <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL— 16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH <br /> OCKWAY MEETING ROOM <br /> PRESENT: Chair,Peter Thomas, Shellfish Constable, Chris Avis, Daryl Christensen, Jaime Pachico, <br /> Buddy Pocknett <br /> OTHER ATTENDEES: N/A <br /> ABSENT: Co-Chair, Dick Cook <br /> Bill Holmes <br /> CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chair Thomas called the meeting to order in Open Session in the <br /> Ockway Meeting Room at 6:OOPM. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: None at this time. <br /> MINUTES: Discussion and approval of the July 11, 2023 Shellfish Commission Meeting minutes. <br /> A motion was made by Mr.Avis to accept the July 11, 2023 Shellfish Commission Meeting minutes. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Christensen. <br /> Motion passed by unanimous consent. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: None at this time. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> 1. Environmental Oversight Committee: Update and Designate a Representative to the Committee. <br /> Chair Thomas reiterated that one of the seats on the EOC is designated to a Shellfish Commission <br /> member. Last month he said that he was going to try and gather some more information regarding the <br /> EOC and wasn't able to gather much more information than what is presented in the Mission Statement. <br /> The general consensus amongst the Shellfish Commission is that they are invested in the Harbor <br /> Management Plan and that the Commission's time and resources would be better spent on the Harbor <br /> Management Plan where the EOC is a much broader picture. Mr. Thomas said that he spoke with the <br /> Director of Natural Resources, Ashley Fisher, about taking the seat if nobody stepped up from the <br /> Shellfish Commission and Ms. Fisher is in agreement. <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Christensen to designate the Director of Natural Resources,Ashley <br /> Fisher as the Shellfish Commission designee to the Environmental Oversight Committee. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr.Avis. <br /> Motion passed by unanimous consent. <br /> 2. Harbor Management Committee: Update on Recent Meeting. <br /> Chris Avis reported that the Committee recently met at the Country Club with approximately 50 people in <br /> attendance. <br /> Chris stated that a topic of discussion related to the dredging of the approach channel at Popponesset. <br /> They will be meeting again sometime this month. <br /> Chair Thomas said that he is glad that attendance is so good. <br /> 1 <br />
