Blum went on to review the nest of the reply from Mr. Duggan which focused <br /> mainly OD new construction and developments. <br /> The committee questioned whether or not they should be involved on some level in the <br /> review of new development plans. Since the Building Commissioner is a member of the ADA <br /> Committee and he is charged with reviewing construction plans through his role on the <br /> Design Review Committee, the decision was unanimous to not have the ADA Committee <br /> review plans. <br /> 4. K4ashpee Disabled Census <br /> Is there a count ofK4ashpee residents that are disabled? If not is that information that the <br /> committee could gather tO get an idea of the number of disabled K4ashpee residents. Mr. <br /> Blum stated that the general number of the disabled population represents about 12% of <br /> any given population (that includes both mental and physical disabilities). Ms. Meehan <br /> proposed the possibility of using the town vvebdte to obtain a rough number of disabled <br /> residents on a volunteer basis. She also Suggested that the town could maintain a resource <br /> list for those residents who needed assistance and weren't sure where to go (i.8. where to <br /> rent medical bed, what carpenters specialize in home renovations, etc.). <br /> 5. Community Outreach —Access toEducation <br /> Mr. Blum proposed that a brochure be created for the ADA Committee. A motion was made <br /> by David to make a brochure that lists services and resources. The motion was seconded by <br /> Ms. Meehan. Mr. Blum volunteered to start drafting the brochure. <br /> Mr. Blum also mentioned that Ron Bonvie had recently assisted with the repair of a handrail <br /> on a ramp at no charge for a resident.The committee voted to send a letter of appreciation <br /> OD behalf Vf the committee. <br /> 6. Future Guest Speakers: COA Director and Human Services Director <br /> Mr. Blum spoke with Heidi McLaughlin, COA Director, and she has agreed to attend the next <br /> meeting as o guest speaker. Mr. Blum mentioned to her that MOD provides emergency <br /> preparation training and provides backpacks to attendees that have emergency numbers <br /> listed on them. He recommended that Heidi reach out to MOD to discuss training <br /> opportunities that the [OA could host. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> 2 <br />
