NEW BUSINESS:
I. Shellfish Constable's Report.
Chris Avis introduced Chris Lucier the Natural Resources Officer to the Commission. Chris has been
employed with the Town since April and divides his time between the Harbor Master and the Natural
Resources Department.
Mr. Avis reported that Clam Daddy came through with F oysters. They personally delivered 590,000.
ARC still owes the Town 319,000 R-6 oysters from the past and Chris will be picking up 36,000 of'/z"seed
and 145,000 of R-12's tomorrow. This will fulfill the entire seed order.
It was reported that all of the vessels will be pulled by Thursday due to the impending storm, Hurricane
Lee.
The Department continues to set up the Thatch Island area for the nursery. The area around Thatch Island,
outside of the 3 aquaculture areas, is open to both commercial and recreational shellfishing. 24 floating
cages have been added at Mashpee River with oysters from the nursery at Thatch Island. 32 cages of larger,
sorted seed have been placed to the right of the boat ramp at Ockway Bay. Sorting continues at Little River.
There has been no mortality and there has been increases in size.
Staffing is down by 2.5 people.
Mr. Avis stated that cameras are live at the docks at Little River as well as the FLUPSY docks.
The Commission discussed overwintering.
ADDITIONAL TOPICS: None at this Time.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion to adjourn was made by Mr. Christensen.
Motion seconded by Mr. Cook.
Motion was passed by unanimous consent.
Meeting adjourned at 6:37pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Susan Donovan
Board Secretary
2
