Mashpee Inclusion and Diversity Committee
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
like this committee. She noted it was both an honor and a pleasure to share that time. A retired
officer, Mr. Quilty, meets with people at the Senior Center once a month and Chairwoman met
with him and took some notes. Massachusetts is the only state that requires officers in every
town for veterans. There is a town budget for veterans. It does not just apply to veterans but
also wives, widows, and children.

NEW BUSINESS
Changing of the Guard: Jayden, Amna, Ayesha, Aiman
The Committee wishes Amna and Jayden well and are appreciative of all their efforts. They
wanted a graduation tassel representing MIDC so they picked the color purple. Amna was
surprised that this Committee did so much and how much planning goes into events. It was a
great opportunity and she is proud that Mashpee recognizes the need for this committee.
Jayden is fascinated by behind the scenes work, and a lot of people don’t know what services
are available to them in this town.

Amna is going to UMASS Boston and Jayden is going to UMASS Amherst, both for finance.
Aiman is both excited and nervous to join MIDC but she wants to do all she can and be
involved as much as she can.

Reception for Who We Are
Ms. Stevenson wants to have a mocktail reception for the exhibit. She would like to send out
actual invitations to all committees, department heads, elected officials, and Town Hall
employees. She would like everyone to come together and wear name tags.

Mr. Klein reiterated that committees don’t even talk to one another. We have a situation going
on in town regarding the sewer.

Ms. Stevenson referenced an editorial in The Enterprise that talked about communication. She
wants it to be an RSVP event. She will communicate with the Select Board Chairman. She is
thinking a weekday evening from 6:00P.M.- 7:00P.M.

Initiate plan for “Belonging Project”
Chairwoman Stevenson met this woman who volunteered at hospitals who would get
volunteers together. What are we trying to do? We need to come up with a name for this effort.
It goes beyond social media.

Elana Doyle would like to come back and work with this Committee now that she has time with
her children in school. She used to say she didn’t know her own neighbors.
4
