Marie Stevenson, Aiman Iqbal, Katie Hennessey, Kim Landry, Gail Wilson, Winnie Johnson-Graham, Rowela Kent, Rolf Brandt CALL TO ORDER Dan Kupferman called the meeting of the Mashpee Inclusion and Diversity Committee to order at 5:11P.M. LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Today we acknowledge this meeting is being held on ancestral lands of the Wampanoag Tribe, also known as People of the first Light. We pay respects to their elders past and present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – August 22, 2023 Postponed, awaiting quorum. MEMBER UPDATES Column – Dan Kupferman The column came out on Friday, it was about Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, anti-Semitism, and then segued into other current issues about racism and hate. He tried to focus on the victims/ survivors rather than the perpetrators. Mr. Klein thanked him for recognizing Rosh Hashanah and the meaning of the holiday but also how he talked about local anti-Semitic and prejudice within the area. Mr. Kupferman’s next column is the Friday prior to Town Meeting, it will come out Friday th October 13 and will focus on the two petition articles that the Tribe is putting on the Warrant. Coalition – Mohamad Fahd Mr. Fahd put together a facebook page for the Coalition, with the intent for people to announce events and bring issues of interest to light. Two or three events have popped up, some people are slowly signing up, the organization itself has over 30 entities. There needs to be a 1
