2 <br /> *AMENDED* (APPROVED 10-30-23) <br /> Monday, September 18, 2023 Charter Review Committee Minutes* <br /> Old Business <br /> John Miller discussed establishing the upcoming meeting dates with the Committee.The proposed <br /> meeting schedule for the Charter Review Committee is as follows: <br /> October 23, 2023 <br /> October 30, 2023 <br /> November 13, 2023 <br /> November 27, 2023 <br /> December 11, 2023 <br /> Meetings will begin at 6:30 pm. <br /> Motion made by Carol Sherman to approve the upcoming meeting schedule, motion seconded <br /> by Darlene Furbush: <br /> Miller,yes Weeden,yes Myers,yes Collins,yes Furbush,yes <br /> Lewis,yes McKelvey, absent Sherman, yes Waygan, yes <br /> Unanimous 8-0(1 absent) <br /> New Business <br /> Review and discussion of potential edits to charter. <br /> Copies of the Charter in draft form with annotations were distributed to the Committee.The draft <br /> includes an outline Committee comments and suggested changes to the charter. The Committee <br /> discussed coming up with a procedure to review the proposed changes to the charter. <br /> John Miller suggested starting from the beginning, going through each suggested edit and <br /> comment identify which ones the committee wants to vote on or ratify. <br /> Don Myers pointed out that there are some substantive changes that require the most focus.The <br /> committee should identify the most essential changes. <br /> Rodney Collins distributed copies of staff comments regarding the budget timeline. <br /> John Miller distributed additional public comment. <br /> The Committee also discussed reviewing public comment and requested a excel spreadsheet of <br /> the articles and corresponding comments from the committee and public. This would help to <br /> distribute some of the work load among the group. It was also decided that John Miller would <br /> check his notes against the redline draft of the charter. <br /> Rodney Collins added that once the comments and suggested changes are in the requested <br /> format, to make sure that it is reviewed by Counsel in terms of parameters. The committee at <br /> times may be exceeding the scope of what it can do within the provisions of general law. <br />
