[Agenda topic 3] Wastewater Management
Discussion: Mike notified the selectmen by letter about the high phosphorus levels in Mashpee Pond and
asked if the serwering of the area around the lake could be moved up sooner. Presently, that area has been
moved up from phase 5 to phase 2. Phosphorus levels in the lake are increasing and septic systems are a
primary cause.
Conclusions: Areas around the lake have been moved forward in the plan for putting in sewers.
[Agenda topic 41Trash Boat Ramp Area/Potholes
Discussion: Barbara contacted DPW about trash in the boat ramp area: a water heater and dock pieces. No
action was taken. We contacted Andrew Gottlieb, our Selectman liaison who took care of it. Brian noted
more trash in May and notified Andrew again. Mike noted that now there are significant potholes on the
road down to the ramp which need to be repaired. Mike will notify DPW.
Conclusions: Selectman Gottlieb has seen that trash in the boat ramp area has been removed.
[gender topic sJ Lake Use/Harbormaster
Coverage
Discussion: In this time of Covid 19,the boating season started of slowly, but became quite busy with a
greater number of inexperienced boaters. There was a drowning on the lake June 23rd and a jet ski
accident July 51h, both being investigated by the Mass. Environmental Police". The boating season started
out fairly quiet but became busier with more inexperienced boaters. The Harbormaster maintained two
boats on the lake much of the summer and Barbara witnessed assistants stop paddle boarders without life
jacket and jet skiers. On the whole, there was excellent harbormaster coverage.
Mike mentioned seeing boaters going through the narrows leaving a wake. The NO Wake Zone signage
seems small for those not familiar with the area. Members wondered if tickets were being written for this
infraction.
Conclusions: Harbormaster coverage has been much improved this year.
Agenda &p c 6)Bach Sampling
Discussion: From June 3rd until September 2"d, bacteria counts at both Attaquin Beach and Camp Farley
areas tested suitable for swimming.
Conclusions: Bacteria counts remained down and the lake was suitable for swimming all summer.
gender Ts c 71 Comaddee ReaUpment
Discussion: MWLMC officers will remain the same in 2021. Debi McManus will be chairman, and Brian
Mauro,Vice Chairman and Barbara Nichols will continue as secretary.
