The funding request for the Heritage Park Improvements Project Phase II is $74,160.
Additional support for the $110,710 project would be provided through donations, contributions
from other leagues, concession sales, through the building and grounds operational budget and in
kind DPW labor.
Ms. Laurent indicated the Heritage Park property has been owned by the Town since 1937. It is
a site comprised of 27-acres and it is used recreationally by the Town. Through the generous
support of the CPC,the playing fields have been enhanced, and improvement have been made
based on the master plan. The property includes two playgrounds, a splash pad, a basketball
court, four multi-purpose fields, three baseball fields and one softball field. There is also a
picnic/restroom pavilion at the park funded by the CPC. Offices for the Town's Recreation
Department are also located in this area.
The project includes the renovation of a storage unit within the existing picnic/restroom pavilion.
The mid-section would be renovated and converted into a concession area. The site is favored
due to its proximity which is central to the youth soccer and baseball/softball fields. The project
includes a new storage facility which would be sited in this area for access to equipment and
storage needs. Ancillary improvements to the fields include electrical service for a new batting
cage, baseball backstops, dugouts and adding a new set of bleachers to Field 2.
