U1 date of mOl en S1 ace
Recreation Plan: (continued)
It was noted this project is a heavy-lift. In the past, plans such as this were created by staff
members. The proponents were asked as to what led to the decision to go to the CPC, and why
place the tax burden on the Town of Mashpee. In response it was stated this is a fundable project
through the Community Preservation Committee meeting the CPA criteria for funding.
For additional review, it was agreed that a firm quote for this project would be requested for the
next CPC Meeting on January 18, 2024.
Further Discussion on Pro jqq1,AppV iqatiops_considered for May 6.2024--_pe Me
eting
eeti
..........
Pro 1q,ct:,.Ashurnet Pond Rehabilitation&Restoration:
............_--
Ashley Fisher,Director of Natural Resources was in attendance updating the Ashurnet Pond
Rehabilitation&Restoration project proposed for the May Special Town Meeting. At the last
meeting the CPC requested further information on cost estimates.
Ms. Fisher indicated the total proposed budget is $670,000. Securing a 50%contribution from
Joint Base Cape Cod(JBCC)and obtaining support from the Town of Falmouth would further
reduce costs. Discussions have been ongoing with JBCC regarding the Environmental Service
Agreement, and in general has been received favorably. JBCC was noted to have funded the cost
for the past treatments in full. The last treatment was in 2010.
Project estimates for permitting and engineering are accurate as well as monitoring and dosing.
The contracting cost for the alum treatment is expected to be defined at the next CPC Meeting.
The applicator is currently reviewing the dosages to obtain more definitive cost projections. It
was noted the contractor has conducted the past three treatments and has the equipment which is
rare for the injection process.
It is therefore anticipated the CPC would allocate funds for the three-year project in its entirety
seeking reimbursement as identified. Town Counsel would be consulted regarding the proposed
warrant article and if a second article would be necessary to transfer reimbursement funds to the
coffers of the Community Preservation Committee.
