9 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 14,2023 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Interview s ta Candidate for Ar <br /> _w _ .. m. 1 e mMemmbershi11,,Possible Recommend Boar or <br /> Recommendation to Select .w._... <br /> Appointment: _ .M._. _. <br /> The Community Preservation Committee interviewed the following candidates for <br /> recommendation to the Select Board for appointment as At-Large CPC members. <br /> Judith MacDougall: <br /> Judith MacDougall,a 23+year resident of the Town of Mashpee indicated she looks forward to <br /> the opportunity to give back to the community positively by participating on the CPC Committee <br /> to ensure the preservation of open space, recreation, affordable housing while maintaining the <br /> rich history of the Town of Mashpee. <br /> At this time,Ms. MacDougall stated she has the time to attend meetings and other commitments <br /> as required for the position. After reading past minutes, and listening to tonight's meeting, <br /> community preservation has resonated and she is enthusiastic in contributing. Ms. MacDougall <br /> resides in the vicinity of Santuit Pond abutting conservation land. <br /> Ms. MacDougall presently works as Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools in the <br /> Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District, a position she has had for the past ten years. <br /> When asked of the four funding categories; open space, recreation, historic purposes, and <br /> affordable housing and her passion,Ms. MacDougall indicated they are all intertwined, and it is <br /> important to protect all facets which are of value to maintain this lovely town. <br /> It was noted the CPA tax was reduced from 3%to 2%, and there has been discussions of <br /> reducing the assessment further. Ms. MacDougall in commenting on the surcharge stated it is <br /> important for the Town to maintain the 2% status quo, a worthy investment for all the projects. <br /> Activities of interest include the start of the Educational Foundation in Bridgewater-Raynham, <br /> and involvement in the Mashpee Schools. Ms. MacDougall indicated she has always <br /> volunteered in one capacity or another which has some value to the community preservation <br /> opportunity. This would include interaction, research and serving as liaison for particular <br /> projects. <br /> When asked of the things she may be qualified for and the challenges that may arise Ms. <br /> MacDougall indicated she is married to a land surveyor. If needed, she could obtain context. <br /> Ms. MacDougall also noted she is knowledgeable on state law, elbow deep in this daily with a <br /> good background. Regarding criticism that may arise, she deals with the public daily. <br />
