She said that there will, hopefully, be a
management plan presented to the Select Board in the spring about where the largest sources of nutrients are
coming from that are making Mashpee Wakeby Pond look like pea soup.
Susan said that she is aware of the very big hurdle that the Town has ahead of them to get the money
approved at Town Meeting for the next phase of the sewer project and stated that the Alliance is a 501c4 and
are able to lobby, they are able to do advertising and signage, etc. She said they are staunchly behind phase 2
of the sewer plan. They stand ready to help educate in any way that they can and that she thinks it needs to
start now. Susan recommended a small version of the Town of Orleans Blue Pages be created as she feels
that it helps residents understand why the aquafer and watersheds act like they do and how water affects
waterways and waterbodies.
Lastly, she reported that the Falmouth Pond Coalition and the Water Management Committee of Falmouth
have moved ahead, in earnest, being driven by the Mass TC to put together a 3 year comprehensive urine
diversion provisional study. At the end of 3 years, if the data certifies so, DEP will declare it a general use,
alternative, septic solution. She stated that the Town Falmouth received $80,000 at November Town Meeting
to get the project honed in. They have over 70 interested parties, 6 of them are in Mashpee. The Alliance is
hoping to make it an Upper Cape Regional project.

APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS
None at this Time.

1
