5 Monday, October 30, 2023 Charter Review Committee Minutes* Rodney Collins — We should package the global edits, and maybe package things like Human Services Committee. Town Clerk appointed vs elected should all be separate. John Miller— When should we have this all together? For May it is the second Monday in February. Greg McKelvey —Are we rushing it? So much going on, when will we get public engagement? Are we pushing too fast? Rodney Collins — Go to October and get it right, I completely agree with Greg McKelvey. Mary Waygan — We have a better shot at getting it done by the July deadline for October Town Meeting. Rodney Collins — Far more comfortable with October rather than May. John Miller —Sounds like a consensus Don Myers — The Charter Review Committee can change after May due to not being elected. John Miller — Representatives of a committee may either be a member or designee. The Committee can appoint a successor. Rodney Collins — Agree with that, and Legal Counsel has confirmed. Mary Waygan — If not elected, I won't continue. Don Myers — The Committee owns the spot and appoints the representative to Charter Review Mary Waygan — You can engage people at Town Meeting, if really close to finishing, I am all in for May. John Miller— Let's not be complacent and move forward. Mary Waygan — let's get out a survey. John Miller — Who is going to get this all out? At this time, it was decided to continue discussion at the next meeting on November 6, 2023.
