5 <br />Monday, October 30, 2023 Charter Review Committee Minutes* <br />Rodney Collins — We should package the global edits, and maybe package things like Human Services <br />Committee. Town Clerk appointed vs elected should all be separate. <br />John Miller— When should we have this all together? For May it is the second Monday in February. <br />Greg McKelvey —Are we rushing it? So much going on, when will we get public engagement? Are we <br />pushing too fast? <br />Rodney Collins — Go to October and get it right, I completely agree with Greg McKelvey. <br />Mary Waygan — We have a better shot at getting it done by the July deadline for October Town <br />Meeting. <br />Rodney Collins — Far more comfortable with October rather than May. <br />John Miller —Sounds like a consensus <br />Don Myers — The Charter Review Committee can change after May due to not being elected. <br />John Miller — Representatives of a committee may either be a member or designee. The Committee <br />can appoint a successor. <br />Rodney Collins — Agree with that, and Legal Counsel has confirmed. <br />Mary Waygan — If not elected, I won't continue. <br />Don Myers — The Committee owns the spot and appoints the representative to Charter Review <br />Mary Waygan — You can engage people at Town Meeting, if really close to finishing, I am all in for <br />May. <br />John Miller— Let's not be complacent and move forward. <br />Mary Waygan — let's get out a survey. <br />John Miller — Who is going to get this all out? <br />At this time, it was decided to continue discussion at the next meeting on November 6, 2023. <br />Motion to adjourn made by Carol Sherman, motion seconded by Greg McKelvey at 7:25 pm: <br />Miller, yes Weeden, absent Myers, yes Collins, yes Furbush, yes <br />Lewis, absent McKelvey, yes Sherman, yes Waygan, yes <br />Vote: 7 in favor of adjourning at 7:25 pm (2 absent) <br />Meeting adjourned at 7:25 pm <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Terrie M.
