Tilton asked if replacement of the scale was contingent on extension of Cavossa's lease.
Cavossa responded they will proceed with replacement, with the understanding that the Board
agrees to negotiate an extension in good faith. The scale may fail at any time and Fairbanks has
a scale currently available.
Cavossa expressed interest in eventually accepting MSW from the three towns. The current
arrangement for operation of the UCRTS or a public-private partnership would benefit
everyone. The BOM members agreed. Tilton said Sandwich's current MSW contract expires
12/31/25. They will probably sign the 5-year extension through 12/31/30 but future use would
be an option. McConarty said Falmouth's contract term is similar. Laurent said Mashpee only
has a one year MSW contract through 12/31/24 so might be interested in using the UCRTS
sooner.
A motion was made by Tilton and seconded by McConarty to approve the installation of a new
truck scale as presented. Approved unanimously.
The Board discussed extending both the IMA and the lease. The Board agreed that a longer
term for the IMA made sense as all were in agreement with continuing the UCRTS operation in
the future, maybe 10 or 20 years. The Board discussed a 5 year term with a potential 5 year
extension for the lease. Extension of the IMA will require approval by the three Select Boards.
The Board members will review the extension with their respective Town Managers for a
discussion at the next meeting.
NEXT MEETING
February 27, 2024 at 8:30 am
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 am.
Re,pectfully submitted by,
C ° erit L rent ,
2
