A copy has been
submitted to Town Counsel for review and comments. Once approved by Town Counsel, a representative of
the Trustees will sign on behalf of the Library, and the new contract will go into effect July 1, 2022. The only
significant change in the contract, which was last renewed in 2018, is that the CLAMS staff, who began
working remotely during the pandemic in 2020, will continue to work remotely. The lease on the CLAMS
office space in the Hyannis Industrial park area expired, and the decision was made not to renew it, or seek new
space. This is a cost savings measure for CLAMS and is possible due to the migration of many services to the
"cloud"versus running the network on-site using servers and hardware.
The CLAMS network also recently voted in favor of supporting a proposed initiative to establish a standard,
statewide e-card platform to allow patrons to register for temporary, virtual library cards. Currently, each of the
library networks in the state operates its own distinct platform to register patrons for e-cards. The
Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners has spearheaded the move to a standard, statewide platform
and will pay the associated costs.
CLAMS is working on a yearlong effort to evaluate its current Integrated Library System(ILS), which is the
software that runs the entire network.
