o The article at Town Meeting passed to increase the Circulation <br />Supervisor's schedule from 34.5 hours to 37.5 hours, <br />a The article helped to elevate the community's awareness around <br />the upcoming increase in hours and the need for more staffing. <br />o The Library currently has about 9.5 FTEs. About 12 FTEs will be needed <br />to fully staff the building with the increased hours. <br />o The Town Manager has authorized a budget request to explore bolstering <br />staffing levels, which is currently underway. <br />The next step will be the budget meeting with the Town Manager <br />on Dec 13, 2022 <br />• An offer has been accepted for the Youth Services Librarian position and <br />the applicant is currently in the hiring process. <br />© The two part-time Adult Services Library Assistant positions have been <br />filled by internal candidates. <br />o The Library is currently working on hiring substitutes. <br />Buildings and Grounds <br />o The Library Director recently met with the Massachusetts Board of Library <br />Commissioners Library Building Specialist <br />n The summary made suggestions for improvements to the several <br />spaces in the Library including the Childrens' Room, main <br />circulation desk, staff workroom, Young Adult Room and second <br />floor area. <br />* Suggestions for the Childrens' Room included replacing the <br />carpet, mobile shelving/bins that are accessible by children, <br />upgrading the furniture and adding an activity/play space. <br />* Suggestions for the main circulation desk included replacing <br />the desk with furniture that is more user friendly for staff, and <br />adding more storage behind the desk <br />* Suggestions for the staff workroom included adding an office <br />or constructing a wall for the Assistant Director to have a <br />private area as well as reconfiguring the storage spaces. <br />* Suggestions for the Young Adult Room included adding a <br />glass door, removing all or most of the computers and <br />replacing the carpeting with resilient flooring so that the area <br />could be utilized as a multi -purpose space. <br />* Suggestions for the second floor space included removing <br />some or most of the hard wired computers, providing more <br />tables that seat 1-2 people as opposed to 4 and <br />
