<br />Finance Committee <br />Minutes <br />February 22, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br />Present: Chair, Jeffrey Pettengill, Vice-Chair, Darlene Furbush, Clerk, Lee Smith, Greg McKelvey, <br />Jamie Schuh, Glenn Thompson, Richard Weiner <br /> <br />Attendees: Town Manager, Rodney Collins <br /> Don Myers, Half Hitch Lane and Member of the School Committee <br /> Dennis Balzarini, Whippoorwill Circle <br /> Jim Stowell, Whippoorwill Circle <br /> Stuart Dobson, Whippoorwill Circle <br />Absent: N/A <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Meeting called to order in open session by Chair Pettengill in the Waquoit Meeting Room at the Mashpee Town <br />Hall, 16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, MA at 6:30pm. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />MOMENT OF SILENCE <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Don Myers asked what the meaning of transfer and appropriate funds available is. He said he interprets it as <br />utilizing free cash. He said in a sense of transparency he thinks there needs to be information provided to the <br />taxpayers explaining exactly where the funds are coming from, what’s available and how much was spent. <br />Mr. Myers said that he thinks the funds that were approved for a bond to repair town buildings and are now <br />being reallocated is a misallocation of funds. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Discussion and approval of Thursday, February 15, 2024 Finance Committee meeting minutes. <br />A motion was made by Greg McKelvey to approve the minutes of the February 15, 2024 Finance Committee <br />meeting as amended. <br />Motion seconded by Richard Weiner. <br />Motion passed by Unanimous Consent with Darlene Furbush abstaining. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br />N/A <br />COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Communication from School Committee <br />Don Myers stated that the School Committee has been asked by the Town Manager to look at potential cuts <br />that they would be able to make. He said they are looking at their original appropriation requests and are <br />looking at alternative solutions that may get them partway or all the way there. He reported that they have a <br />Finance Working Group that will be meeting next week to look at some of the alternatives and they should have <br />more information for the Finance Committee and the Town Manager after that meeting. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />None at this Time. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1.
