Septic Permit Regulation Review for Addition of Erosion Control <br />Mr. Seabury introduces the topic, addressing persistent issues <br />related to dirt piles left behind after septic tank installations. These piles <br />often lead to stormwater runoff carrying silt and sand into infrastructure, <br />streetways, and stormwater drainage systems. Catherine Laurent, the <br />Director of Public Works, inquiries about existing procedures for handling <br />this matter. <br />Mr. Seabury explains that currently, there are no specific erosion <br />control measures in place, except for ensuring that the finished grade of a <br />septic system leak does not exceed a slope of 2%. To address this gap, <br />they propose the addition of "Regulation 16: Erosion Control." According <br />to this regulation, any septic construction work in an area with a slope <br />greater than 0.02 feet per foot must have an erosion control plan. If erosion or damage occurs within street rights-of-way due to <br />construction, the permit holder must promptly restore the road layout <br />within ten days, as directed by the Health Department or Department of <br />Public Works. <br />Mr. Seabury emphasizes that including the Department of Public <br />Works in the regulation language grants them the authority to enforce <br />these measures in the field. <br />During the discussion, Mr. Virgilio underscores the importance of <br />understanding Ms. Laurent's precise requirements.
