Phyllis Sprout asked about backup generators and Sandy said there is a generator at the plant <br />as well as a generator at each of the pump stations. <br />Phyllis also inquired about smell at the pump stations. Sandy said there are odor control units <br />installed. <br />Sandy reported that there are field crews working around town. They are surveyors and boring <br />crews. This is related to Phase 2 construction. These crews will be visible for 3 to 4 months. <br /> <br />2. Website Revision Update. <br />Catherine spoke about the importance of having a website that is informative now that the <br />Wastewater Department has been established and would like it to be similar to the Board of <br />Health website which is mirroring the Health Departments website. She would like the Sewer <br />Commission website to mirror the Wastewater Department’s website. She stated that there <br />are some required updates that she would like to be done before the Town Meeting. <br />Catherine said that they are going to go over past newspaper articles that mention the Sewer <br />Commission and the Wastewater Department, along with past agendas and minutes to be <br />archived and included on the website. Co-Chair Harris said that the website revision is going to <br />be fluid and will be continued to be updated and maintained as the project moves forward in <br />order to keep it as informative as possible for the Citizens of the Town. <br />Jared stated that they are still working on the GIS portion of the website. <br /> <br />3. Wastewater Superintendent Update – Jared Meader. <br />Jared stated that they now have the Memo of Understanding (MOU) for Asher’s Path <br />apartments so that they can get tied in under the current Phase 1 contract. <br />He is currently putting together request for proposals for contract ops for the plant. <br />Jared said that Jessica Thomas from UMass Dartmouth has been doing studies with Permeable <br />Reactive Barrier (PRB). In her studies on the Vineyard, she used soy oil and it was 100% in <br />removal of nitrogen. She is going to come to Mashpee to look for suitable sites to try and get <br />more immediate nitrogen removal from the waterline. <br />There is power at 1 lift station and they are working on getting power to the lift station on <br />Mashpee Neck Road now. Jared is trying to get warranty extensions since the pumps will not be <br />in operation for a time and will be sitting idle. He is awaiting written documentation on this <br />from the manufacturer. <br />Jared stated that he just got the final okay to bring water into the lift stations so that the pumps <br />will be able to be cleaned and back washed if needed. <br />It was stated that Pirate’s Cove residents have been calling inquiring about drainage and Jared <br />said that they will be doing an evaluation to determine what needs to be done and that it could <br />be a case where some of the drains need to be cleaned. <br />Jared reported that the Sewer Commission Handbook is coming along and he thinks he’ll have it <br />for the next meeting. <br />Jared explained the permitting process for Phase 1 stating that instead of separate permits <br />being required for plumbing, Board of Health and Wastewater they will be lumped into one <br />permit and one inspection. <br /> <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
