Finance Committee <br />Minutes <br />May 16, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Review and take action on request for End of Year Transfer within the Department of Public Works of <br />$132,500 from Account 01422101-5112 (DPW Salaries/Full-Time Local 888) to Account 01422102-5242 <br />(DPW Expenses/Beach Nourishment). <br /> <br />The Committee was presented a Request for End of Year Appropriation Transfer requesting the amount of <br />$132,500 be transferred from the DPW Salaries/Full Time Local 888 account to the DPW Expenses/Beach <br />Nourishment account. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Lee Smith to approve the transfer of $132,500 from the DPW Salaries/Full Time Local <br />888 account to the DPW Expenses/Beach Nourishment account. <br />Motion seconded by Greg McKelvey. <br /> <br />Mr. Collins explained that need for the beach re-nourishment is a result of unanticipated storms affecting South <br />Cape Beach. Town Manager Updates. <br />None at this Time. <br /> <br />3. Meet with Candidate to Replace Glenn Thompson on the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />The Committee was introduced to Mike Milbury, the Candidate to replace Glenn Thompson. Mr. Milbury stated <br />that he grew up in a large family in Walpole. He played for the Bruins after college and went on to become the <br />Coach, he managed the New York Islanders for about a decade and came back to be a broadcaster for NBC, CBC <br />in Canada and NECN. He has been a full time resident of the Town since 2021. Mr. Milbury stated that although <br />he has never sat on a Town Committee before, as general manager of sports franchises he managed budgets <br />from $30 to $60 million. <br />The Committee briefed Mr. Milbury on the way the Finance Committee operates and many questions were <br />presented and explained. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
