Approval for the mitigation strategies and methods employed in the <br />project was obtained from Natural Heritage. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Ms. Thornbrugh raises a query regarding the application for removing the phragmites <br />and whether there might be less invasive alternative method. In response, Mr. Gaudreau <br />explains that the proposed method is the sole effective means for removing the species. <br />Additionally, he notes that the trees’ vegetated root systems will remain in the bank to provide <br />ongoing support. This is a one-time process and will be carried out during the restoration phase. . <br /> <br /> Following up, Mr. Colombo seeks clarification on the types of plants intended for <br />placement in the velocity zone. Mr. Gaudreau clarifies that American beach grass and coastal <br />dune grass will be used, as they are capable of withstanding the harsh environment. He mentions <br />that at full maturity, these plants can extend between 6 to 8 feet into the ground. <br /> <br />There are no public comments. <br /> <br /> Motion made by Mr. Cook to close and issue with the condition of submission of <br />a signed monitored and maintenance contract between the property owner and a qualified <br />experienced consultant for all native plantings.
