o Phase I is scheduled to be completed over the next couple of weeks. Phase 2 is
expected to start early in 2025. Phase 2 will involve continuation of the project
from the Old Barnstable Road intersection to the Mashpee Falmouth towns line.
o A temporary easement is being requested for 5 years, involving 3 properties under
the jurisdiction of the Conservation Commission. The easement is needed for
clearing and grading activities related to the construction of a multi-use path on
the north side of the road and a sidewalk on the south side. Once the project is
complete, the disturbed land will be restored.
COMMISSIONERS COMMENTS
• What vegetation will be removed?
o Existing vegetation is a mix of pine, oak, undergrowth, and invasive species. The
invasive species within the easement will be removed.
o Some trees will be planted.
• A clarification request is asked on the process for such a request.
o An executed Dedication of Easement form will be required.
o Ms. Laurent states the Dedication of Easement Rights will be recorded at the
Registry of Deeds and at the June 3rd select board meeting, the select board will
be voting on an order of taking for additional easements on private property.
o One of the Commissioner's will need to sign the document in front of a notary.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Ms. Hecht, who lives on Hooppole Road, is concerned that once the project is complete,
there will be no sidewalk to the County Fair. She is requesting clarification on whether a
sidewalk in that area is planned.
Ms. Laurent mentioned that during the design and engineering process about 10 years ago, DPW
(Department of Public Works) approached the town of Falmouth with the same concern.
However, the town of Falmouth declined to participate in the project at that time.
❖ The Commissioners have concluded with the support for the proposed project and will
provide signatures at the end of the meeting.
APPROVAL of MINUTES
May 2112024 (Paul Colombo, Steve Cook, Marjorie Clapprood, Sandra Godfrey, Sarah
Thornbrugh)
• The Agent and Chairman requests more time to review the minutes.
2
