The
presentation focused on the PFAS contaminants found in the waterways of Mashpee town
and even in some of the lower-level animal structures. The Chairman strongly
recommends watching the video provided during the presentation and conveyed deep
concern upon reviewing the alarming numbers and facts discussed.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Ms. Barbee, who lives on Surf Drive, mentioned that during a conversation with a Select
Board member, it was recommended that the presentation should be accessible at the library and
promoted throughout the town.
No further discussion.
• New Seabury Golf Course— Kevin Taylor, flooded cart path—The applicant failed to
meet the deadline for submitting the required documents for the meeting and will be
included in the agenda for the meeting on June 13, 2024.
• Ch. 172 Regulation 25—Land subject to coastal storm flowage, draft revisions:
STANDARD 7
o Mr. Cook appreciates the detailed information provided but expresses his main
concern with Performance Standard#7 regarding vertical walls. After researching
projects in floodzones and reviewing floodzone regulations, it is clear that pilings
are required in all coastal A zones according to the building code. Mr. Cook also
mentions that the building code covers the International Residential Code and the
Massachusetts Amendments to the building code. He suggests removing Standard
#7 due to the requirement for FEMA to review all completed projects for
compliance.
3
