<br />MINUTES <br />MASHPEE BOARD OF SEWER COMMISSIONERS <br />TUESDAY, JULY 16, 2024 @ 5:00 p.m. <br />MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br />WAQUOIT MEETING ROOM <br />16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH <br />MASHPEE, MA 02649 <br />*In-person, televised meeting* <br /> <br />Present: Vice-Chair, Meredith Harris, Clerk, Catherine Casteneda, Joe Lyons, <br /> Al Towle <br /> <br />Other Attendees: Wastewater Superintendent, Jared Meader <br /> Sandra Tripp, GHD <br /> Irene Checkovich, Sunset Strip <br /> Susan Dangel, Cotuit Road <br /> <br />Absent: Chair, Chad Smith <br /> Phyllis Sprout <br /> <br />5:00PM – Convene Meeting: Vice Chair, Meredith Harris called the meeting to order at 5:05PM <br />in open session at Mashpee Town Hall, Waquoit Meeting Room. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />MOMENT OF SILENCE <br />PUBLIC PARTICIPATION <br />Irene Checkovich thanked the Sewer Commission for all their time and hard work on the <br />incredibly important issue on the Town sewer project. She read a letter that she wrote to the <br />Editor of the Mashpee Enterprise addressing the billing method that was discussed at the last <br />Sewer Commission meeting considering a per bedroom billing method. She stated that her <br />hope is that the Commission will vote for a fair and equitable sewer rate billing system for the <br />10,000 plus users of Town water and asked that they set fairness and water protection as <br />higher priorities over administrative ease. <br /> <br />Susan Dangel addressed the Commission and stated that she agrees with what Irene had to say. <br />Susan went on to encourage the Commission to have more meetings than only once-a-month. <br />She stated that people are anxious to know what’s going on with the sewer project. <br />Susan reported that there was another serious cyanobacteria bloom this past June in Mashpee <br />Wakeby Pond. The person that is conducting their diagnostic study attended their annual <br />meeting in late June and the cluster system, that will be addressed later in the meeting, was <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
