It was agreed that Town <br /> Manager Rodney C. Collins would bring forth documentation for the next meeting to assist the Select Board in <br /> their decision-making process for this appointment. It was disclosed an RFQ was sent to four firms with <br /> experience in Municipal Law, as well as to the Massachusetts Municipal Lawyers Association. Town Counsel <br /> Patrick J. Costello will be retiring as of July 1,2024. <br /> Discussion and Possible Action Relative to Sending a Letter of Sulk:fort for the Joint Base Cai,)e Cod Rail Service <br /> and Bourne Pedestrian Trail: <br /> A draft letter of support for the Joint Base Cape Cod Rail Service and Bourne Pedestrian Trial was presented to the <br /> Select Board for review and approval. It was noted the Town's of Falmouth and Sandwich are expected to send <br /> letters of support for the rail with trail concept. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to authorize the Town Manager to send a letter of support to the <br /> Massachusetts Department of Transportation for the Joint Base Cape Cod Rail Service &Bourne <br /> Pedestrian Trail. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Wyman-Colombo. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Weeden,yes Selectman Wyman-Colombo,yes Opposed, none <br /> It was suggested the letter be edited for sentence structure and grammar. <br /> Discussion and Possible Relative to the Joint Base„Cape Cod Machine Gun Range: <br /> The Select Board reviewed the external email from Andrew Gottlieb,Executive Director of the Association to <br /> Preserve Cape Cod(APCC)dated May 8, 2024 regarding Joint Base Cape Cod's proposed Multipurpose Machine <br /> Gun Range. A draft letter to the Environmental Management Commission requests immediate action be taken to <br /> preserve the Cape's sole source aquifer. <br /> The proposed project is a large new training facility known as the Multipurpose Machine Gun Range within the <br /> Upper Cape Water Supply Reserve. The APCC has urged immediate action to avoid irreparable harm to an <br /> irreplaceable drinking water supply. <br /> Discussion followed. It was agreed this matter would be placed on the June 3, 2024 agenda for further review. <br /> Selectman Wyman-Colombo will be unavailable to attend this meeting, but would offer comments with respect to <br /> this regard. <br />
