IMP. IMBO
d"fr,,{yn,r,fw VhP.
w Mashpee lncCusion and'Diversity Committee
16 Great Neck Road Worth
'VLashpee, AMA 02649
Mr. Klein would like to resurrect the brochure and get that out to different store fronts or public
buildings around town. Someone would have to committo refilling them every so often. He
noted this Committee was lucky to be fully represented, it's unfortunate there aren't more
people interested, as there are many vacancies for town boards and committees town wide.
Mr. Kupferman commented with talk about more people joining and representing, we need to
be more visible. For him, age is low on the list as far as being diverse, culturallyand racially he
would prefer to see more representation.
Ms. Doyle suggested diversifying the things the group wants to do or represent, not
necessarilyjust events. Everyone has different ideas of what diversity looks like with different
calibers, and that can be broken down into smaller more feasible accomplishments.
Mr. Klein stated Michaela Colombo offered a lecture about grant writing at the Town Hall and
Public library. Last Friday, four people showed up, the week prior only one showed up and it
was her husband. He is trying to argue that it is hard to activate community participation even
through the newspaper at times.
Ms. Doyle tries to stay abreast of different media streams and involved in the community
happenings, but she doesn't see advertising forcertain things, there are differentways in
which someone can get the word out to broaderamounts of people.
Mr. Klein referenced the column being excellent in noting Diversity and Inclusion at the top, he
wants to add that maybe a time, date, and place can be given to encourage people to attend
the meetings.
Mission Impact
Are we making an impact and where? Chairwent to the Senior Center to find volunteers for
RAD and people were not aware of what Race Amity Day was.
Ms. Doyle thinks back to the first projects for veterans parking and child care at Town
Meetings. These are two very different but small subsections of the community, they did
impactful things that caught the attention of the community in different ways. A natural buzz is
created the more that gets accomplished. Race Amity Day is the biggest thing that has taken
off since then.
Mr. Klein went back to the brochure saying it was nice and we just lost track of it. It neared the
launch of RAD so one took off and the other fizzled out.
4
