IMP. IMBO
d"fr,,{ynr,fw VhP.
w Mashpee lncCusion and'Diversity Committee
16 Great Neck RoadWorth
'Alashpee, AMA 02649
Winnie Johnson-Graham noted Diversity Day atthe school was quick because there are so
many participants. She would like to see time spent at K.C. Coombs or Quashnet, they are
only in the High School. Back in the day there would be assembly's and they would go to the
gym and sitwith friends singing "We Belong".
Rolf Brandt asked about the immigrants at the Joint Base Cape Cod, it was responded they
had gone to Yarmouth and left the base.
Winnie Johnson-Graham commented there isn't enough housing right now, that is the real
need.
Dan Ku pferman stated Nell Field came to a meeting last year with hopes the Town might want
to sponsor a refugee family and we decided back then it was too large to take on at the time.
Mohamad Fand said we need to concentrate on bringing people in, there is a whole spectrum
of people, according to ability, and this refugee business is biggerthan us, we cannottarget
too big.
Dan Kupferman added what if there were people in Mashpee who needed rides to
appointments.
Richard Klein said they could ask Gail Wilson at the next meeting if she could help with this
concept. Lynne Barbeewho is involved at the Senior Center is also on Human Services and is
driving people from the Senior Centerto appointments. Itwould be a nice cross committee
collaboration.
Rolf Brandt inquired about the Town Manager coming to a meeting to discuss Open Meeting
Law issue.
Mohamad Fand noted he filed it, and he got a response. Everything had been submitted on
time, there was no right to cancel or say the Committee cannot convene.
Dan Kupferman stated the Town acknowledged they were mistaken about that before hearing
from the state level. One was the question of them telling us we couldn't meet the otherwas
whetherwe could encourage the Town to vote for or against a petition article.
Winnie Johnson-Graham asked if Juneteenth would be acknowledged, Race Amity Day is the
week prior. Richard Klein would like to incorporate it into the RAD ceremony.
3
