3 <br /> Select Board <br /> Minutes <br /> September 23, 2024 <br /> APPOINTMENTS& HEARINGS <br /> Discussion and &2proval for Award of Contract for Cho c a�jq��fto h _Wet Land Restoration: Conservation Aent <br /> Andrew McManus: <br /> Andrew McManus,Conservation Agent was in attendance to request the Select Board award a contract with <br /> SurnCo Ecological Contracting for the wetland restoration of the Chopchaque Bogs. The bogs and surrounding <br /> upland parcels were acquired by the Town as open space/conservation land in 2020 with approved Community <br /> Preservation Act funds. <br /> A grant was applied for and attained by the Conservation Department to restore 6.5 acres of bog surface to <br /> wetlands. The $520,000 In Lieu Fee Program Grant under the MA Division of Fish and Wildlife allowed for <br /> engineering support to include conceptual design,planning, permitting, construction and post construction <br /> monitoring and management. All permits both state and local have been secured. <br /> The Town is now in the final construction phase. After receiving 22 bids, it is recommended the bid award go <br /> SumCo Ecological Contracting. The bid includes an alternate in the amount of$29,500 for the demolition and <br /> removal of an existing bog pump house on the property. After consultation, it was agreed the alternate scope would <br /> not be pursued at this time. The base bid to be awarded is $229,500. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Weeden to approve the contract award associated to the Chopchaque Bog <br /> Wetland Restoration project <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Weeden,yes Selectman Wyman-Colombo,yes <br /> Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara, yes Opposed, none <br /> Discussion and,A , )roval of the Following Special Event A lications: <br /> Walk for.the Wild,, ;kq4in Oc ober 13, 2024. 9:30 am—4 pm: Assistant Conservation Agent Daniel Kent: <br /> -AA ­­Y4A,­­­­ON- --Conservation­­­-­-.-­. ...... <br /> The Select Board met with Assistant Conservation Agent Daniel Kent to review the Special Event Application <br /> submitted by the Conservation Department and Friends of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. The Walk for <br /> the Wild event is intended to raise awareness of local refuges and to draw support for Friends groups across the <br /> country. This is a 5k hike, an estimated 2.1 miles that starts at Attaquin Park for check in and shuttle to the <br /> Quashnet School ending at the Naukabout Brewery. Last year the event was well-attended and there has also been <br /> a lot of sponsorship and support.
