3 Select Board Minutes September 23, 2024 APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS Discussion and Al i royal for Award of Contract for Chop cha u� Bog Wet Land Restoration; Conservation A ent Andrew McManus. Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent was in attendance to request the Select Board award a contract with SurnCo Ecological Contracting for the wetland restoration of the Chopchaque Bags. The bogs and surrounding upland parcels were acquired by the Town as open space/conservation land in 2020 with approved Community Preservation Act funds. A grant was applied for and attained by the Conservation Department to restore 6.5 acres of bog surface to wetlands. The $520,000 In Lieu Fee Program Grant under the MA Division of Fish and Wildlife allowed for engineering support to include conceptual design, planning, permitting, construction and post construction monitoring and management. All permits both state and local have been secured. The Town is now in the final construction phase. After receiving 22 bids, it is recommended the bid award go SumCo Ecological Contracting. The bid includes an alternate in the amount of $29,500 for the demolition and. removal of an existing bog pump house on the property. After consultation, it was agreed the alternate scope would not be pursued at this time. The base bid to be awarded is $229,500. Motion made by Selectman Weeden to approve the contract award associated to the Chopchaque Bog Wetland Restoration project Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. Roll Call Vote: Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Weeden, yes Selectman Wyman -Colombo, yes Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman O'Hara, yes Opposed, none DiscussiMon and A)roval of the Following Special Event Alications Walkwfor.the Wild,,Atta uin Park µOctober 13 2024„ 9:30 am 4 l�mw: Assistant Conservation Agent Daniel Kent: The Select Board met with Assistant Conservation Agent Daniel Dent to review the Special Event Application submitted by the Conservation Department and Friends of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. The Walk for the Wild event is intended to raise awareness of local refuges and to draw support for Friends groups across the country. This is a 5k hike, an estimated 2.1 miles that starts at Attaquin Park for check in and shuttle to the Quashnet School ending at the Naukabout Brewery. Last year the event was well -attended and there has also been a lot of sponsorship and support. Stipulations were imposed by the DPW to collect litter and provide restroom facilities if needed. Motion made by Selectman Wyman -Colombo to approve the Walk for the Wild Event at Attaquin Park on October 13, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara.
