They have expressed concerns due to the lack of water sourcing for the
plantings, which are suffering as a result. He adds that due to the remote location and
prolonged experience of drought, moving forward, funding will be needed for the addition of
a water hookup to keep the pollinator gardens going. Mr. McManus has reached out to the
water district and spoke with Andy Marks, who ensures that it is feasible to hookup to town
water at that location, but the creation of a well will be a significant expense, and in his
opinion, it will make sense to connect to town water. There was a breakdown in fees
provided by Mr. Marks, which indicates a$1550 fee for the water district to complete the
work and an additional $1200 to purchase equipment. He estimates the project will total
$3000. In addition, Mr. McManus had a meeting with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as
well as Tom Eagle to discuss the possibility of funding support. This has not been finalized
but is an option to split the costs for the project. Mr. McManus requests $1500 from the
Lands and Maintenance Account to go towards the proposed project.
Ms. Zollo asks for clarification if there is enough funding in the account to cover the full cost
of the project and suggests the option of requesting reimbursement should the Commission
pay in full. Mr. McManus confirms that there are enough funds in the account to support the
project as a whole.
1
