During the meeting, he provides the Commission with a concise
overview of the town's Natural Resource Areas and reads from the Land Steward
manual, highlighting the responsibilities and guidelines for this role. Additionally,
Mr. Faud requests that the Commission write a letter of support to accompany his
application to the Town Manager.
AGENT COMMENT
The Agent clarifies that the Conservation Commission lacks the authority to dictate how
a Land Steward utilizes land that is not deeded to them. Neither the Town Manager nor the
Select Board has taken any action to appoint Conservation Commission custodians for specific
parcels or land banks. The primary purpose of the Land Steward role is to maintain the Pollinator
Gardens. Additionally, the Land Steward Program aims to assist through observation and
reporting of any concerns or findings. If Mr. Faud wishes to manage aspects of the land beyond
the pollinator gardens, the agent recommends that he engage with the Select Board or the Town
Manager to seek permission.
4
