Mashpee Inclusion and Diversity Committee
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
Ms. Stevenson noted the Diversity Coalition Facebook page is being utilized and different
programs are being shared from across Cape Cod.

Mashpee High School Human Rights Club/ Who We Are/ Human Rights Academy
Chair Stevenson will be attending as an Advisor to the Human Rights Club for the Human
th
Rights Academy being held on October 29 at Sturgis Charter High School.

Who We Are continues to pick up more participants, those who have already been
photographed and featured will be made into a book. This concept models the work done by
Becky Fields, but this book will include a family recipe of those showcased.

This Committee had a system in place for student representatives. We are currently in need of
two present Sophomores who are willing to serve on the Committee for the next two years.

Ms. Stevenson attended a presentation on bullying hosted at the school. She was
disheartened to see the lack of attendance, especially by parents of school-aged children.

Column
Chair is working on getting a meeting with the editor. Dan Kupferman will be submitting his last
column on Friday. He would like to talk about what will happen going forward.

Chair Stevenson mentioned she would be capable of writing every so often, but if it were to
continue, there needs to be a system in place. It has been a valuable way to get our voices
heard.

Dan Kupferman has spoken with members of the community who have expressed interest in
writing a column or two. Richard and Theresa Donovan would be willing to contribute and
suggested there be a rotating schedule and inquired about the specific requirements.

Mr. Kupferman stated he usually kept it between 600-800 words. He stated that the students
might be willing to write an article. Marie Stevenson added Who We Are stories as an option,
and Marie Blackburn might want to contribute to a column.

OLD BUSINESS
Pamphlet Update: Committee Members Needed
The last pamphlet was edited by former member Patty DeBoer. It was suggested the logo be
used instead of a photo of members. Richard Klein and Gail Wilson will collaborate on the
2
