TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> July 6, 1989 <br /> Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Members present: George R. Costa, Stephen J. Greelish and John T. Doherty <br /> THE TAPE IS NOT PART OF THE MEETING. IT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSCRIBING <br /> MINUTES. <br /> Mr. George R. Costa, Chairman <br /> APPOINTMENT: (unscheduled) - Council of Warriors request for Pow-Wow, July <br /> 14, 16 & 16, 1989 - Pocknett Field <br /> Ms. Loretta Jones, (a/k/a Princess Smiling Wind) and Ms. Terry Stokes were <br /> in attendance for this appointment. <br /> Ms. Jones informed the Board she has submitted monies, as requested by <br /> the Police Department, for security at the Pow-Wow. Ms. Jones stated there <br /> will be dumpsters and trash barrels with liners at the site, as well as fire <br /> extinguishers. Ms. Jones explained all meats served will be fresh, fire proof <br /> canvas will be used along with carpeting or canvas on the ground 'to keep the <br /> dust down. <br /> Ms. Jones stated she is requesting the Board waiver 10 food permits for <br /> the pow-wow and commented a telephone will be maintained on the site for emer- <br /> gencies <br /> Mr. McQuaid informed the Board a pre-inspection and inspection during <br /> operations will take place. <br /> Ms. Jones stated portable sanitary facilities will be provided during <br /> the pow--wow. <br /> Ms. Jones stated the Council of Warriors , Inc. is a non-profit organiza- <br /> tion that raises funds to provide day care and operate a food bank. <br /> Mr. Costa explained to Ms. Jones that she will be required to provide <br /> documents stating the organization is non- profit and commented if the docu- <br /> ments are not provided to this Board a fee of $40.00 will be charged for each <br /> food stall . <br /> Mr. McQuaid informed Ms. Jones that she is required to submit_a letter <br /> to this Board which will list the names of applicants requesting a food permit. <br /> Mr. Greelish motioned to grant the request to operate a pow-wow at the <br /> Pocknett Field on July 14, 15, & 16, 1989 with the stipulation all persons <br /> operating a food stand submit their application to this Board along with a <br /> $40.00 fee. A waiver of fees will be granted upon submittal , to this Board, <br /> documents stating the Council of Warriors, Inc. is a non-profit organization. <br /> Ten ( 10) food permits will be allotted for the Pow-Wow, Mr. Doherty seconded, <br /> all agreed. <br />
