All other -inside flushing will be two rains.,
r
Mr. Jones stated that he would stake his reputat i n,..on the fact that nobody' s
life or health will be endangered by opening up the faucets for consumption fol-
lowing a two minute flush. This is.` based"on• the data in hand.- This problem will
vanish by itself. r -
i _
Ir. Storrs stated the a month ago the Board was faced with twenty possible causes
and today has narrowed it down to one cause and agrees that the orrosivity of the
water is the most likely source.
Mr. Greelish stated that the determination the Board has come to is that noone
is to blame, it is rather a combination of factors which created the problem.
Mr. Costa stated that if the school had been on schedule and the initial chlorination
and flushing had taken place properly, the problem may not have surfaced, Mr. Costa
recommended that Mr. Jones repeat his earlier statement to the Selectmen.
Mr. Rich suggested that before the Board recommends a seperate treatment. system for
the school it reread the current regulations regarding treating a public water
supply. You would then become a seperate water supplier with all the -attached
requirements. It gets very involved since you would be supplying water to more than
25 people.
i
r. Costa stated than tonight the Board will present the selemen with the findings
and recommendations ofWeston & Sampson and offer any assistance to them they a,
seek.. It' s up to the selectmen as to which recommendation they wish to adopt. We
will offer to do the sampling upon their instruction since they will be getting
the bill . We will recommend flushing and sampling for the time being.
Ir. McQuaid started that the County is willing to do the analysis but drawing the
samples will have to be done by our staff The County will charge $25 per sample.
Envirote h would charge $45 plus labor.
r. Costa responded to Mr. doves suggestion that only one sample be drawn b
sabring than the cost benefit does not outweigh .the continuance of. the sampling
program already instituted and his belief that the parents would be more at ease
if we follow what the engineer suggests.
Meeting adjourned at 6:35 pry.
Respectfully submitted,
Elias A. McQuaid
