BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES MONDAY, OCTOBER 15 , 1990 10 : 45 AM I Present: 0. Robertson, Chairperson G. Selander A. Fiorentini A. Rockwood M. Fordham H. De Poe Library Director II Minutes of the September meeting were accepted with corrections . III Reports : A. The librarian' s report was accepted as read. Helene noted that circulation is up 10% over the previous year. B. Friends of the Library: October 23 , Tuesdav 1: 30 p.m. Mary Fordham reported that she has arranged a program which sounds very entertaining, thanks to Helene DeFoe' s idea: Rich Kenny who teaches a course at Cape Cod Com- munity College, whose presentation will be "Radio Re- visited" . He will try to get at least three people from the audience to perform. They will do excerpts from old radio programs, like Fibber MaGee and Molly, and then the audience will have to guess the character. it should be fun. C. Relative to the reception tea which was given honoring the library volunteers, Gloria Selander reported that there was a turnout of 30 to 40 people, the entertain- ment was great, and the reception was very well received. D. Plary Fordham reported on the recent book sale - a huge success. 'Vie earned approximately $160. E. H. DeFoe reported that the Friends had purchased a typewriter for the library to replace a typewriter which had died during the budget year. 'They have decided to place the typewriter in the meeting room to be used by the staff to type overdue notices . The staff is very pleased with the typewriter. it is a great machine with a nice type. IV Correspondence : The Library Trustees Association Conference November 3rd: H. DeFoe and 0. Robertson plan to attend. As many as would like to attend were invited. V OLD BUSINESS : �' 1IG1=J A. H. DeFoe reported that she had attended the CELA trustees ' Conference on October 13th at Sturgis Library. There were approximately 40 people in attendance and a number of trustees.
