The Board of Library Commissioners
has hired the King Company in Tennessee to do a sur-
vey of the library services in the state, to look at
all aspects of it to see that we were doing the best
job that could be done. They will be researching
procedures in other states as a comparison Mass.
libraries. A survey will_ be mailed to each library
to detail our present procedures. Librarians, trustees,
and patrons will be interviewed. The results of this
survey should be quite interesting.
A presentation on the Friends was made by a woman who
has started a group called Friends of Library USA.
This is an organization whereby Friends receive a
national newsletter and find out what is being done
by other Friends of Libraries . She sees Friends as
friends of the library, library users, advocates,
people who are supportive, especially when budgets
are tight to make known the needs of the library,
perhaps doing some fund raising. The annual dues
would be a relatively modest amount for our Friends
to become members of this organization.
