Will <br />be mindful of scheduling conflicts in the future. <br /> <br /> Calendar & Upcoming Events <br />o UpSTrEaM to Kindergarten event for preschool and incoming <br />kindergarten students takes place on Thursday, April 14. Students from <br />MMHS will contribute to STEM activities by bringing robots and <br />matching games. <br />o Friday, April 15 – end of preschool registration; Stepping into Spring <br />school-wide walk <br />o May 4 – Kindergarten Skype visits with owl from North Carolina <br />Aquarium <br />o Monday, May 23 – Marathon Monday Celebration for grade 2 at MMHS; <br />Kindergarten, Here We Come! event. Roger Tinknell will be giving <br />concert during school hours. Evening event for incoming kindergarten <br />students features a ride on “the big yellow bus” and ice cream sundaes. <br /> <br /> Placement of students next year will be done strategically and heterogeneously; <br />not overloaded <br /> <br /> On-line registration process for preschool and kindergarten has been effective. <br />School Committee meeting brought up that the on-line registration is not user <br />friendly-unclear of directions, links are not clear <br /> <br /> Currently there are 70 kindergarten registrations; 56 registrations for full day 4 <br />year old program, 44 registrations for 3 year old program; <br /> <br /> School start time – <br />o Mr. Auger and Mrs. Lithwin serve on the committee. At the last meeting, a <br />doctor presented information regarding later start time for high school <br />o If everything shifted an hour (hour earlier for high school, hour earlier for <br />elementary) there are concerns about darkness <br />o Costs of not shifting elementary school children an hour – transportation <br />costs <br />o Another option – shift high school later and elementary late (9am start) <br />o Consensus within committee is that high school should start an hour later, <br />but unsure about changing elementary start time <br />o Many places are shifting start times <br />o Athletic Director is agreeable to later start time <br />o Will bus routes finish in time to get to high school <br />o After school programs – start times affect these programs <br /> <br /> PTO Update – <br />o Raucous basketball with Quashnet defeating KCC <br />o Hoping to have this be an annual event <br /> <br /> <br />
