NEW BUSINESS
Ted distributed a copy of the report "The Cape Cod Economic
Base" prepared for the Cape Cod Commission by Edward Moscovitch,
and also an article from the July 20 , 1994 Cape Cod Times
entitled "New Group Aims to Lure Business. " The latter article
deals with the creation of a corporation to help bring business
to the Cape.
Sid noted that Steve Innis needed to leave the meeting at
8 : 23 p.m.
Paul Reynolds reported on the meeting he attended for the SE
Massachusetts office of Business Development. He met many
people, including Maria Gooch from SEED who helps businesses
get loans. SEED helped SEAMAP in their move to Mashpee. Sid
showed the article regarding Bourne giving a Mashpee business
space and asked members if we should write a letter or editorial
in response; the committee responded not to. Paul suggested
planning a welcoming party to draw attention to Mashpee. Sid
was not sure we can do this and recommended putting this on
the agenda for the next meeting for discussion. Sid further
stated that he felt this should be handled by the Chamber. of
Commerce. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously in favor
to have Paul Reynolds look into whether any efforts have been
made toward a PR effort to attract business to Mashpee.
Sid presented the members with a zoning map and town codes and
briefly explained the zoning to them and will discuss it in
further detail when the "Guidebook" is available.
Paul gave his computer report stating that we bought the computer
that runs MAC/IBM programs; it' s all set to go. As soon as
we hire a coordinator, we can begin programming.
COORDINATOR POSITION
Sid reported there are nine applicants for the position, and
the committee needs to review the nine resumes received. It
will be necessary to narrow the choices down to three or four
candidates. Sid stated the need to look at the parameters of
the position. Ted_ recommended devoting the thrust of the next
meeting to paring down applicants, and to put their educational
background on the back burner. Robert Govani stated we want
to pick someone knowledgeable in this area. Paul Reynolds
recommended a tentative timeline and development of criteria
and a list of questions so that the committee has a profile
of what they are looking for .in a candidate. Paul felt computer
skills are very important since we bought a $2 , 000 computer
last year. It was suggested to distribute resumes to each member
to review for the next meeting. Ted asked what are the list
of priorities for the committee. He felt this was a high priority
