and it was determined that we need a vice chair but not really a clerk. A motion was made, seconded, and unanimously in favor of making Paul Reynolds vice chair. Sid referred to page 1 of the Minutes from July 12 , 1994 in which Steve volunteered to follow up on the ad placed in Banker and Tradesmen. Steve said he did contact Jamie Regan on this ad, and someone has to pay for it. The cost of the ad is unknown. There is $7, 500 .in the budget, and the expense for an economic coordinator is upcoming. Ted Lewis stated that we should start by finding out the cost of the ad and whether we can take it out of last year' s budget. Steve will talk to Jamie Regan and look into it (he may have a bill ) . Sid stated that we are a brand new committee, and we need to complete the past work from the old committee. There will be a "get-together" August 2nd to continue. this effort. Steven Innis agreed to drop his request for minutes of all previous meetings of the EDC as stated on page 2 of the July 12 , 1994 minutes. Regarding the EDC Coordinator position as stated on page 3 of the July 12 , 1994 minutes , an ad was placed in the June 24 Mashpee Enterprise, July 10 Cape Cod Times, July 1 and 12 Mashpee Enteprise. Under STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES on pace 3 of the July 12 , _ 1994 minutes, only three members are needed for a quorum and therefore we do not really need alternates. Bob Writenour verified that the seniority rule is satisfactory for alternates . Ted Lewis strongly recommended allowing alternates to vote. The Selectmen' s office can give us the answer to this . It was not necessary to be resolved tonight. It was agreed that alternates should receive the minutes from meetings. Ted recommended that the minutes be mailed to the alternates, and that Bob Writenour be contacted to determine whether the position of alternate is to make a quorum by being a participating voter in the absence of the five members. Under APPOINTMENT PROCESS AND DISTRIBUTION OF RESUMES on page 3 of the July 12 , 1994 minutes, Sid stated it is legal to make copies for the coordinator position. Regarding the hiring of the consultant on page 4 of the July 12 , 1994 minutes, the interview will be. done by this committee and the Executive Secretary and Personnel Director, and the appointment will be made by the Selectmen. New members may be recommended by our committee.
