Steve reported that the wage
is $12. 98 an hour (plus mileage) , and the Personnel Board is
leaving_ it up to the EDC discretion to spend the $5,000 . Sid
stated that we need to set goals for the Coordinator, budget
his time, and monitor the results of those goals. (Sid noted
that Paul has volunteered to write three to four programs to
get him started on the data base. ) Sid asked Steve and Ted
to be on the sub-committee to establish these goals and set
up a budget. Steve stated he should talk to John O'Brien, and
Ted agreed.
Drafts for the Mission Statement 'by Sid and Paul were
distributed. 'Ted referred to his former handout of the
Guidelines for the Barnstable County Cape Cod Economic
Development Council, and he would like to pull from these.
Steve presented his draft of a Mission Statement. It was
unanimously agreed to postpone any discussion until all five
members were present. Ted suggested having a special meeting
called to cover this topic.
Sid moved on to Goals and Tasks and stated that tasks have
already been assigned- (.i.e. Bob is doing the gardens, and Ted
and Steve are handling the Coordinator position) , and these
goals and tasks should be based on our Mission Statement.
Sid stated that he prepared goals for EDC as follows: The
primary goal should be marketing the town and properties zoned
industrial or commercial; establish a pre-permitting process
so that delays and costs are kept to a minimum (this is
predicated on getting a data base) ; development of- short term
goals as well as long term ones. The long term goal is the
LCP. Sid gave an example of C-Map and the move to attract
supporting businesses . This was referred to as the "incubator"
concept, an approach similar to the one Barnstable Business
