A motion was made, seconded, and unanimously voted to not go
forward. and use the encumbered money for signs as originally
intended based on the opinions' of Bob Gregory of the State
Highway' Department who does not approve of the signs, and Greg
Taylor and Bill Przbylek who think they present a traffic hazard,
and to pursue other avenues for signage with the Executive
Secretary Bob Whritenour.
A discussion about underground utilties occurred with Greg
Taylor. Mr. Taylor stated that Comm Electric is not willing
to discuss this alternative with him, and the costs are
prohibitive. Ted. stated that the costs would be five to ten
times higher than aboveground. Ted further noted that the
electric poles house street lights, and underground utilities
make it harder to troubleshoot power outages. Tom stated that
the suggestion came up to do underground utiltities for the
new High School on Rte. 151 so that it would beautify the area.
Ted offered to be. of any help since he has some expertise in
this area if EDC wanted to pursue this further with the utility
company.
The Minutes of July 25, 1995 were approved with the following
corrections:
- p. l Sharon asked if the Committee agreed on an objective
for the consulting group.
- p.l Richard Halpern telephoned and expressed interest in
having his name on a sign.
- p. 3 ( strike) Tom suggested sending out surveys to the 120
. calls.
- p. 3 (add) Dr. Halversten, the former Director from MBL
Under Correspondence, Wayne upated the Committee about the want
ads for the Mashpee Employment Pool stating he received 12
responses and that he is going to put together a data base.
He would like to order 50 pads with 50 pages each for $70 , a
quote he received from New Dimensions in Mashpee. Paul Reynolds
asked that Wayne wait until he has a chance to get another quote;
Paul wants to see if the cost could be half if the size was
reduced to fit four on a page. Wayne will have New Dimensions
refigure the costs with size reduction. A motion was made,
seconded, and unanimously voted to set aside $70 as a cap to
produce 50 pads on 50 pages after Wayne does the
respecifications.
Sharon raised the question what are we going to do now having
received 12 responses . Wayne stated we will keep a file ,
eventually create a data base and try to place these workers
-2-
