The Mashpee Environmental Coalition sent a letter of response,
and a copy will be sent to each member with the next mailing.
A News Release announced that Sandwich Co-operative Bank
committed funds to the SEED Corporation to help small local
businesses on Cape Cod. EDC can recommend Mashpee businesses
to this program.
Wayne called Karen Baptiste and asked her to be a mediator in
negotiations with Augat'. He also faxed her a copy of the recent
newspaper article. She will talk to Jack Lynch at Augat' s
Mansfield Corporate Headquarters.
Wayne stated that if the Cape Cod Commission votes a negative
to the Industrial Park plan on September 5th, the owners will
proceed with developing each lot individually. Wayne arranged
a meeting between Bruce McGregor of the Industrial Park and
Half Tide Marina to discuss storage space for boats . The
Industrial Park will lease them a lot that abuts Sun Storage
to store boats that are no older than 1995 .
Sharon Koblinsky reported that the Marketing Sub Committee has
been working on the marketing insert for the New England Business
Journal . Paul Reynolds offered to help so that we can meet
the deadline of September 4th. He suggested doing a 4-page
ad to include quotes from residents , a letter from Bob
Whritenour, a quality of life feature, events in Mashpee, and
the cornerstone page. Paul volunteered to do the layout, Sharon
will do keyboarding tomorrow, Wayne still needs to do a segment
on New Seabury, and Steve Kyros will call the Journal to find
out the cost of a 4-page ad and confirm the deadline date.
Gloria Dube reported that she spoke with the Superintendent,
and he has requested material from Junior Achievement in Boston.
She will study this information before "selling" the idea to
local Mashpee businessmen at a Kiwannis meeting. Paul will
arrange the speaking- date when Gloria is ready.
Wayne stated that it was recommended that the Augat negotiation
team be comprised of a representative from the Board of
Assessors , Finance Committee, Board of Selectmen, EDC, the State,
and Bob Whritenour. Wayne asked for a representative from EDC.
A motion was made, seconded, and unanimously voted to appoint
EDC's liaison Ken Marsters.
Wayne noted that the time is not right to follow up on the
suggestion to form a Mashpee Industrial Park Advisory group.
Wayne reported that the PWED grant application process is moving
along, and plans for infrastructure improvements at Augat, the
Industrial Park, Mashpee Commons , and Willowbend are being
discussed.
-2-
