SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS Education Committee : Gloria D. talked with Trish today. Three teachers were trained with two mentors in attendance. The teachers are working with the following mentors : Sharon of Sharon' s in the Mashpee Commons, Jamie Regan and Linda Steele. Gloria and Trish elan to meet on April 17th to talk about the $1, 000 !Neighborhood Coalition grant. They will handle the invoicing process . Gloria requested EDC to release their $250 stipend. Paul R. suggested initiating a Press Release covering how school and businesses have teamed up, listing teachers and mentors by name that were involved. Wayne asked Gloria to write a paragraph for the Town Report. Marketing Proa'ram: Paul R. reported an ad was placed in the Cape Cod Life annual edition. Wayne will request they send all correspondence to his office. Wayne D. reported that two responses were received as a result of this ad. We need to present a marketing piece soon, and hopefully Sharon K. will be back to follow up on this. Mentor Program: Steve I. gave a report on the Mentor Program and recommended that a follow-up survey be done to evaluate the effectiveness of the prograw. He would like a survey mailed out soon. Steve I. also suggested a letter be sent to each participant offering the full support of EDC to help them to the next step. Steve I. recommended that the program be offered again in the fall. He suggested choosing reference materials for the students rather than rely on SCORE ' s general guide. Steve I. recommended having the 30 participants purchase the "Business Planningy _Guide" from Barnes and Noble for $22 . 95 and offer them a one day follow-up workshop. Wayne D. will use the remaining funds frora the program ( $25 ) to purchase a copy. Wayne D. will work with Steve I. to prepare a letter for a wailing in May to the participants . -2-
