ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES
DECEMBER 17 , 1997
Fred DiMeco, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 7: 10 p.m.
in Conference Room #2 at Mashpee Town Hall.
Present: Fred DiMeco, Jack Hart, Wayne Duchemin.
MINUTES: Due to the lack of a quorum, no vote was taken.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR' S REPORT:
Wayne D. reported that Mike Gallarini , the Economic Development
Director of the Plymouth Office , has offered to talk to us at
our next meeting in January about establishing an Economic
Development Industrial Council.
Wayne D. and Jack H. will meet with Steve Buss , our Computer
Technology Administrator, and Maxm Consulting on January 6th
to begin a home page "facelift. " This needs to be done before
we generate advertising link activity on the internet.
Jack H. wants to include snapshots ( i.e. the beach , Mashpee
Commons , New Seabury, etc. ) so people can see what Mashpee is
like. He further wants to condition the home page to be more
navigable and entice people to call. They plan to do Web links
after this.
Wayne D. and Jack H. plan to replace our Welcome to Mashpee
campaign with "Discover Mashpee Now" and develop a live , work,
and play theme with pictures. Wayne distributed a sheet with
topics/ideas for each theme.
Fred D. suggested we solicit donations from local businesses
like the Industrial Park or Willowbend to help pay for this .
Jack H. estimated the cost to be under $1 ,000 .
Wayne D. stated the brochure is nearing completion. We are
adding text and pictures. Wayne hopes to have the brochure
ready for Committee review at the next meeting , and he may mail
it to EDC asking for any changes.
Fred D. presented an EDT (Electronic Data Info) Report on
Mashpee which he initiated for a cost of $45. He feels our
pie charts are not accurate and do not slant toward attracting
business to Mashpee. The EDI report gives 5-year projections
for population. Jack H. stated this report will appeal to
consumers and businesses . Fred D. asked Wayne to make a copy
for every EDC member.
_1 -
