R►
Wayne D. distributed a proposed FY199 budget with a new
component , adding a part-time office support person
approximately 10 hours per week at $10 . 00/hour. (This is a
transition step toward a full-time economic development program. )
He increased the expense line item to $8 ,000 ( from $5 ,000 ) to
cover reprinting the Guide for Business , office letterhead and
business cards , developing a B&B brochure , sponsorship of
workshops , Web site marketing initiatives , print advertisement,
and general marketing and public relations support activities.
Fred D. reported he met with Linda Gallant from the Chamber
to discuss the maps. He estimates it will cost $5 ,000 to print
180 ,000 maps similar to the Bennington, Vermont ones. It costs
$475 per Chamber person to advertise on one of these. He also
suggested selling $10 poster maps to people.
Fred D. asked if we have a map of available commercial/industrial
land in Mashpee. Wayne D. stated no, and it is not on the Web.
We have to lead people to our database in the Planning
Department. Fred D. would like to see a map of raw commercial.
land. Wayne D. will ask Planning to produce one. Fred D. feels
every EDC member should have this information, and we should
focus on being more informed to assist Wayne.
Jack H. stated the Web site gets many visitors and is a good
place to advertise. How can we increase the budget and have
the most flexibility? The clerical services can be acquired
on a consultant basis (using a 1099 ) . It was mutually agreed
to drop support staff as a line item and ask for $13 ,000 under
expenses .
Fred D. suggested checking the exact figures to place under
expenses.
Jack H. revised the last paragraph of the proposed budget to
read: "Develop a live , work, and play in Mashpee campaign that
utilizes state-of-the-art Web technology and art work. "
Jack H. further added: "Develop a distributable pocket map
of Mashpee derived from the kiosk map. "
Fred D. feels that .a print campaign works better ( i.e . Yankee
Magazine, Cape Cod Life) .
Wayne D. stated we should make property owners aware of our
campaign efforts . He will develop some way to make contact.
-2-
