Ken C. stated we need to lay out a plan and present this at <br /> Tuesday ' s meeting (Business Forum) . The goal is to have 30 <br /> companies here. They will tour Willowbend , and hopefully be <br /> focused at Augat ( if all goes well ) . The Chamber and the Town <br /> will do a presentation. The available options to these <br /> businesses are Augat , Town land, and the Industrial Park. <br /> Wayne stated that $4 ,000 has been set aside to begin the process <br /> of produciny a CD and video. We can tap additional funds in <br /> the new fiscal year budget. The positives are that we are in <br /> control of our destiny; we control who will be the tenants. <br /> Heidi T. asked how the people of Mashpee feel about <br /> entrepreneurialships and the number of people it will attract. <br /> Wayne stated that Mashpee residents will yet first dibs at jobs. <br /> They plan to work within the schools and track students into <br /> jobs with training and a career path. Jack H. stated there <br /> will be a Cyber Arts Festival in May where businesses will host <br /> students . Wayne stated we need coordination to pull these <br /> programs together. <br /> Wayne summarized the order in which to proceed as follows : <br /> ( 1 ) yet approval at May Town Meeting , ( 2 ) get legislation passed , <br /> and ( 3 ) appoint a Board of Directors. Wayne read the Article <br /> he prepared for the May Town Meeting. <br /> We will need a hard sell marketing plan along with a consortium <br /> of people. <br /> We need a hotel in Town. Potential sites for one are New <br /> Seabury , I4zashpee Commons , Willowbend , and across from the 99 <br /> Restaurant. <br /> Wayne will bring a map to the next meeting showing the Industrial <br /> and Commercial properties available in Town (per Ken C. ' s <br /> request ) . <br /> Wayne stated the Chamber can generate "in kind" assistance from <br /> businesses. <br /> New Business; <br /> Ken C. stated he received a tax revaluation on his commercial <br /> properties that was 30 percent higher than the last one done <br /> four years ago. He will seek an abatement. He feels that EDC <br /> should be proactive in helping businesses. Heidi T. noted that <br /> hotel taxes run about 12% . <br /> -2- <br />
