Greelish, Chairman <br /> 1: ) Warrants signed <br /> 2. ) Mr. Ball motioned to accept -the minutes of April 29, <br /> 1993 , Mr. Doherty seconded, all agreed. <br /> 7. ) DISCUSSION: Mashpee Water District Public Notice <br /> x Mr. Richard Halpern, Water -District Commissioner, was in <br /> attendance for discussion. <br /> Mr. Halpern relayed, "We received a call from the E.P.A. <br /> giving us advance notice of a press release to be made at <br /> 10:00 a.m. on May 11, 1993 regarding the high concentrations <br /> of copper and lead found in the Mashpee Water District <br /> wells. " "The Mashpee Water District is responsible for the <br /> water which flows not only into the house but out of the fau- <br /> cets. " "Up until recently no chemicals were added to the wa- <br /> ter which resulted in a very acidic water. " "We have now in- <br /> stalled a corrosive control chemical in two of our wells. " <br /> "The test results stated by the E.P.A. were performed prior <br /> to the introduction of the corrosive control chemical and <br /> many samples were taken from seasonal homes where the pipes <br /> had not been flushed for an extended amount of time. " <br /> Mr. Greelish questioned Mr. Halpern as to whether an- <br /> other set of test results were taken. <br /> Mr. Halpern responded, "Another round of testing will <br /> take place in approximately one month. " "We will prepare a <br /> press release on Monday. " "The source of the water is <br /> clean. " <br /> 3 . ) Proposed Conservation Commission re ulation - Mr. <br /> McQuaid relayed, "The regulation reduces the nitrogen loading <br /> on open surface bodies of water, rivers, ponds, streams, es- <br /> tuaries and/or the ocean to 3 p.p.m. .
