TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> February 17, 1994 <br /> Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Members present: John T. Doherty, Steven R. Ball and Stephen <br /> J. Greelish. <br /> THE TAPE IS NOT PART OF THE MEETING IT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> TRANSCRIPTION ONLY. <br /> Mr. John T. Doherty, Chairman <br /> 1. ) Warrants signed. <br /> 2. ) Mr. Ball motioned to accept the minutes of February 3 , <br /> 1994 , Mr. Greelish seconded, all agreed. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING: High Sachem Estates <br /> Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and Ms. Bingham, homeowners resid- <br /> ing within the High Sachem Estates subdivision, were in at- <br /> tendance. <br /> Mr. Doherty relayed, "In reviewing D.E.P. procedures for <br /> classification of our landfill it came to our attention that <br /> some of the homes in High Sachem Estates are either down gra- <br /> dient or within 500' of the old active landfill area. " "Town <br /> water was supplied to that area and there are a few homes <br /> that are still not connected. " "We would like to urge you to <br /> connect or find out the reason why you have not connected. " <br /> Ms. Bingham stated, "My water was tested twice and came <br /> up fine. " "My home is located on Falmouth road at the end of <br /> the new development of "Asher's Heights" . <br /> Mr. McQuaid relayed, "There are three homes on Falmouth <br /> Road that are on town water. " "Ms. Bingham is just outside <br /> the 500' radius. " Mr. McQuaid presented a chart of the con- <br /> tamination plumes drawn by Weston & Sampson and explained, <br /> "Just up and down gradient of the Asher's Path area there is <br /> contamination so there is not reason not to suspect, with <br /> some degree of confidence, that there is definitely a poten- <br /> tial for contamination in that area. " "D.E.P. is very con- <br /> cerned with any wells within 500' of the active landfill <br /> area. " <br /> Mr. Greelish relayed, "If there is a potential health <br /> hazard to people in that immediate vicinity this Board would <br /> be very remiss in not bringing the home owners all of the <br />
