TOWN OF MASHPEE
BOARD OF HEALTH
May 19, 1994
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Members present: Steven R. Ball , John T. Doherty and Robert
F. Cram.
THE TAPE IS NOT PART OF THE MEETING IT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF
TRANSCRIPTION ONLY.
Mr. Steven R. Ball , Chairman
1. ) Warrants signed
2 . ) Mr. Doherty motioned to accept the minutes of May 12 ,
1994 , Mr. Cram seconded, all agreed.
3 . ) Waste Mgmt. Advisory Committee Representative - Mr.
McQuaid relayed, "The Committee was formed three or four
years ago. " "The intent of the committee, through the Cape
Cod Commission, was to decide whether or not there should be
a regional Cape wide M.R.F. established for recyclables for
the Cape. " "The County received a grant from the State and
did a feasibility study. " "Back when this first was intro-
duced, Mashpee was one of only two other towns on the Cape
that voted against it, thinking we could handle our
recyclables locally better than a regional plant. " "Since
then, the Cape Cod Commission and Assembly of Delegates voted
that we should not build one plant for the Cape. " "Meanwhile
D.E.P. has funds available, through the bottle bill, and they
are looking at building a mini M.R.F. at our Otis Transfer
Station at the States expense. " "It turns out that the money
was not specifically allocated for such purposes. " "We have
had no voice on the Waste Management Advisory Committee be-
cause Mr. Greelish, our representative, chose to ignore it
because he was against it from the beginning. " "Now there is
a vacant seat on that committee. " "They are requesting we
appoint a representative."
Mr. Doherty volunteered to represent the town with Mr.
McQuaid to remain as alternate.
4 . ) Response from O.S.H.A. - Mr. McQuaid relayed, "At the
Board's request I forwarded a letter to O.S.H.A. requesting
to be copied on any reports on the accident. "
Mr. Doherty directed the Agent to resubmit the request
for copies of any reports three and six months from this
date.
