TOWN OF MASHPEE BOARD OF HEALTH September 1 , 1994 Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present: Steven R. Ball, John T. Doherty and Robert F. Cram, sr. THE TAPE IS NOT PART OF THE MEETING IT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSCRIPTION ONLY. Mr. Steven R. Ball, Chairman 1. ) Warrants signed. 2 . ) Mr. Doherty motioned to approve the minutes of August 18, 1994 , Mr_ Cram seconded, all agreed. Mr. Cram motioned to accept the Executive Session min- utes of August 18, 1994 , Mr. Ball seconded. 3 . ) Correspondence from Town Counsel and Weston & Sampson re: Landfill classification and closure - Mr. McQuaid re- layed, "There are three issues that the town needs to address to be removed from the significant threat list and place on the potential threat list. " "The first being, all private wells within 500' of the landfill be tied into town water, the second is D.E.P. is to be provided evidence that there is no cross connection between the private well and public wa- ter, the third is D.E.P. is to be provided with rules and regulations establishing land use restrictions within the po- tential contamination area. " "As of today, all homes within the High Sachem Estates subdivision will be tied in. " "We have a written policy from the Water District confirming the cross connection policy and all our regulations dealing with use of private wells in potentially contaminated areas have been sent to Town Counsel. " "It looks promising that we will be removed from the significant threat list to the potential threat list which will give us 1 1/2 years to 2 years in which to cap our landfill. " 4 . ) Copy of letter from Weston & Sampson to D.E.P. re: La- goon closure - McQuaid relayed, "Weston & Sampson have sub- mitted the results of the sludge test. " "Once we receive the test results and D.E.P. approval the landfill contractor will perform the work as an addendum to the contract. " Acknowledged.
